Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
The people we spend time with influence us more than we realize.

As you know by now, in The Reflective Circle, our April journaling theme is Dream Big— whatever big means to you and for you.
But today, I want to talk to you about something crucial. Something that could make or break your ability to bring those dreams to life:
Your tribe.
Because you were never meant to bloom alone.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of being surrounded by the right people—your dream tribe. Because no matter how powerful your seed is, if you plant it in the wrong soil, it won’t grow. You wouldn’t plant a delicate orchid or a radiant rose in just any dirt. You’d find the perfect soil, rich with nutrients, sunshine, and space to breathe.
Why would your dreams be any different?
You need to plant yourself where you can be nourished. Where your growth is celebrated, not questioned. Where your big ideas are met with, “Tell me more,” instead of “Who do you think you are?”
If your dream is to become an entrepreneur, but your daily environment is filled with 9 to 5 people who have long given up on their own dreams—who live for the weekend, complain endlessly, and fear change—you will feel like you’re trying to fly with weights on your wings.
Not because you’re not capable, but because your environment is draining your magic.
And if you can’t change your physical environment right now, you must create a mental one that feeds your dreams.
If you want to start a skincare brand, immerse yourself in that world:
- Read the books.
- Listen to podcasts.
- Follow the founders who inspire you.
- Research who you want to serve.
- Get clear on the transformation your products bring.
- Learn how to tell that story to the world.
You don’t need a crowd to get started—just commitment and curiosity. You can build a dream tribe virtually, mentally, spiritually… long before it shows up physically.
Expand your environment on purpose.
Get so busy building your dream life that you no longer have time to waste in places that shrink you.
This doesn’t mean the people around you are bad. They’re just not your growth environment. And you can’t afford to stay rooted where your soul feels stifled. Because you’re not here to play small, water yourself down, or constantly explain your passions. You’re here to bloom.
So, this April, I dare you not just to dream big—but to surround yourself with the energy that matches those dreams. Seek out your tribe. Or become so aligned with your dreams that your tribe finds you.
✨ Your Dream Tribe Journaling Exercise ✨
If you could choose the people who walk beside you as you build your dream life—who would they be?
🖼 Step 1: Create Your Dream Tribe Vision Board
Use Pinterest, Canva, or magazines to build a collage of the friendships and partnerships you want in your life. Look for online friendships that inspire you—like Reese Witherspoon & Kerry Washington’s beautiful connection in Little Fires Everywhere. Notice the love, the respect, the collaboration.
📝 Step 2: Script Your Dream Interactions
Write a journal entry as if a day in your life with your dream tribe has already happened.
Where are you?
What are you talking about?
How do they support you, and how do you show up for them?
💭 Step 3: Reflect
- What does your dream tribe value?
- How do they make you feel?
- What kind of person do you become when you’re around them?
Your energy is precious. Be intentional about where it flows and who gets to bask in it. You don’t need to beg to belong—you just need to believe you’re worthy of the circle you dream of.
Your future self will thank you.
And your dreams? They’ll finally have the soil they need to grow.
With all my heart,
Salima
